6-7: Puget Sound Challenge PADDLE KITSAP WEEKEND : Segment 9 - Description of the course and directions to the launch site.

20-22: WWTA CMT Camp-Over at Kopachuck State Park for supporters! This weekend will include a social and potluck dinner on Friday evening. Saturday will be a full day with a Site Steward Training Class and a work party. For details about the weekend please contact Bruce at bgf117@comcast.net.

21: Paddling volunteers needed for the annual invasive plant survey on the Chehalis River Surge Plain (CRSP) in Grays Harbor County. The CRSP is a unit of the Natural Area program administered by the DNR. Volunteers, using their own canoes or kayaks, will survey this tidal river mapping locations of two invasive plants—Purple Loosestrife and Japanese Knotweed.The trip is of moderate difficulty but suitable for any level of paddling experience. Everyone will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Volunteers can expect to be on the water for 4-5 hours.For details about the trip and to sign up, please contact Roberta (Birdie) Davenport.

18: Bellingham Traverse: An endurance multi-sport challenge that celebrates the life journey of salmon. Soloists, tandem and relay teams compete for survival on the course that demonstrates the urban and natural challenges that salmon face in their journey. More information and registration.

30: Greenland Week Competition: Join the Kayak Academy for a week (October 30 through November 7) of traditional Greenland-style lessons, demonstrations, competition and social activities during our annual Greenland Week at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, Washington. Some activities are free and open to the public. We are honored to have Maligiaq, Dubside, Helen Wilson, George Gronseth and other expert instructors share their knowledge and skills for this full week. Check out the classes!

12: Washington Water Trails Association's Annual Open House will take place at the REI Flagship Store in Seattle. Join staff, board members and volunteers for an evening (6-8 p.m.) of pre-holiday cheer!

4: Deception Pass Dash. A challenging 6-mile course takes paddlers through the swirling waters of Deception Pass! This annual paddling event is open to all paddlers ages 16+ (with parent/guardian). All racers should have significant paddling experience and proven self-rescue skills. Pre-registration is required. Register online through the Outdoor Adventures Center!
