Odlin County Park

The sandy bay that fronts most of Odlin County Park is a welcome relief from the rocky cliffs surrounding many of the San Juan Islands. The park is backed by Department of Natural Resources forest and has 4,000 feet of shoreline.

Approach: Land to the west of the boat launch

Location: Southwest corner of Upright Head. The non-motorized campsites are at the west end of the campground.

Hazards: Heavy boat traffic in Upright Channel with accompanying wakes.

Sites: 2, #16 & #28

Water: Faucet. Not available in winter.

Sanitation: Vault toilet

Overflow: None

Fires: Fires in established fire pits only. Beach fires are not permitted. Check for burn bans.

Extras: Hiking, picnic area

Fees: $15 for up to 4 people/$5 per adult 12 + years; $3 per child 5-11 years

Special Considerations: Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult for overnight camping privileges. Sites are bordered by private property.

Natural History: The steep sea floor is ideal for scuba divers. The currents around Upright Head provide good nutrients for underwater species and sometimes trouble for kayaks.
