Triton Cove State Park

This sheltered park was once a privately operated RV park. It is a popular day use boat ramp. During shrimp season the days may start very early in the morning. Busy Highway 101 borders the upland portion so you will want to take advantage of vegetation buffers to reduce traffic noise in your tent.

Approach: Land on rocky shore to the north of the boat ramp.
Location: Triton Head, southwest of Duckabush, almost straddles the Mason and Jefferson county line. The park is on the western shore of Hood Canal.
Hazards: Hood Canal wind. The only safe water access is at the boat ramp area.

Special Considerations: Be considerate of neighbors' views into the campsite. The rangers at Dosewallips State Park manage this site; they are located 10.5 miles north on Highway 101.
Natural History: The cove is fed by Fulton Creek and is full of life. The protected cove makes this a great spot to explore on lower tides or when wind and waves obscure visibility on open waters. The remains of a pier are just a few feet beyond reach on the southerly end of the park. Rock and concrete steps give hints of former development.
