We had a great time collaborating with Washington We had a great time collaborating with Washington State Park staff on where the new Cascadia Marine Trail site will go at Kopachuck State Park. It turns out it’s going in right next to the water with a great view! They also pointed out that their event space is up for rent and we thought we might put on a paddle and picnic at the facility.

Thank you, Ivan Storck for this great review of our dinner with Jennifer Hahn Thursday night!www.instagram.com/p/DXx_7y0FCfdhkR1PXfnFmRTQQLe1eRmnHXSPy80/?igsh=MXVkazBlbmRoM3Brdw== ... See MoreSee Less

Tonight was a deep dive into the edible wonders of the Northwest coast with the incredible Jennifer Hahn at @washingtonwatertrails. 🌊 It turns out the “weeds” we paddle past every day are actually a nutrient-dense goldmine. From the surprising protein content of Nori to the “sea bacon” crunch of Dulse, every bite was a lesson in PNW foraging. The Highlights: • Sea Lettuce Butter: Dried and crumbled with shallots and garlic—an absolute game-changer on fresh bread. • Sea Bacon: Dulse is the savory, salty snack I didn’t know I was missing. • Nori Power: Did you know it’s 30-40% protein? • Coastal Medicine: Beyond the flavor, these seaweeds are packed with fiber, antioxidants, and anti-cancer properties. • Forest Tea: Finished off with Douglas fir tea—an old-school “anti-scurvy” Vitamin C boost that tastes like the woods. More than just a meal, the night focused on the concept of Ishqualamie—the practice of preparing food with deep mindfulness and intention. Huge thanks to Jennifer Hahn for sharing the wisdom from Pacific Harvest and for reminding us to look a little closer at the tideline.
